Radioactive Nuclear waste
Radioactive waste is usually emitted as a byproduct through nuclear power generation, other applications of nuclear fission and nuclear technology, such as research and medicine. Radioactive waste is hazardous to all forms of life, the environment and is regulated by government agencies in order to protect human health and the environment. Radioactive waste decays over time and so has to be isolated and kept in a safe lead box to not emit any radiation to water supplies which could become a hazard – so that they no longer pose a threat. Current approaches to managing this waste are segregation and storage near surface disposal and deep burial for high-level waste. Radioactive Nuclear waste can also come from nuclear power plants which also pose a threat like what happened in Chernobyl in 1986. To ensure that the delegates possess full knowledge of the issue at hand the Chernobyl incident should be studied in depth, delegates must strive to come to suitable solutions for handling and storing nuclear waste while simultaneously minimizing risk, so such incidents never occur again.
Crisis between Yemen and Saudi Arabia
The ongoing conflict between Yemen and Saudi has been spanning on for several years. The tension between the nations has reached peak levels with nations now launching weapons against one another, putting at risk the lives of many innocent civilians. Yemen has been locked in a seemingly intractable civil war that has killed nearly 10,000 people and pushed millions to the brink of starvation. The conflict has its roots from the Arab Spring of 2011, when an uprising forced the country's longtime authoritarian president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to hand over power to his deputy, Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi. This was supposed to bring stability to Yemen, one of the poorest middle eastern countries; however, there were struggles with military attacks and corruption. This conflict escalated rapidly during 2015 when Saudi Arabia backed by other countries began strikes. The delegates should aim at producing a pragmatic resolution to resolve the conflict at hand, and how possibly the nations could put aside their differences and become united sufficing the goals of UN.
